Duke University Herbarium Algae Collection (DUKE)The Duke Herbarium contains over 800,000 specimens of vascular plants, bryophytes, algae, lichens, and basidiomycete fungi, including more than 1900 types. The Algal Herbarium was established by Duke phycologist Richard Searles. The herbarium consists of 20,500 specimens of macro marine algae from the southeastern U.S., Caribbean, and Mexico, including over one hundred types.
